AHS Blood Borne Pathogen Course
This is a course that is designed to provide the learner with a working understanding of pathogens that may be encountered while performing first aid or emergency care in the workplace. Upon completion of the course the participants will understand the use and application of PPE as well as following Universal Precautions.
Knowledge Objectives
Upon completion of these sections, the learner will be able to:
• Define bloodborne pathogens.
• Identify the transmission of bloodborne pathogens.
• Formulate a plan to safeguard workers from accidental exposure.
• Assess knowledge of bloodborne pathogens for application in the workplace.
Skill Objectives
Upon completion of these sections, the learner will be able to:
• Recall the material about bloodborne pathogens.
• Name the bloodborne pathogens and safe practices.
• Demonstrate safety precautions to prevent the contamination of bloodborne pathogens.
• Support staff members and avoid future occurrences of exposure.
